Wasn't he considered a bust around November last year?

its going to be a sad day for Flyers hockey and the city of Philadelphia when the time comes Snider passes away. Hopefully not for years of course! Snider has done so much for the city. As I've mentioned before I joined the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation in year one and coached up until 2 yrs ago. The program is amazing and does so much for the city youth. He also poured millions into the city rinks that were close to closing due to major budget cuts.

while we've been cupless for way too long, its never out of lack of trying. Snider has never been cheap and never handcuffed the organization. Need to move on from players, burry their millions in the minors (like Nedved). Need to rid money off the cap, buy out players or retain salary.

I have MAJOR respect for Snider. I only wish Jay would have had the same passion and vision for the Flyers as his dad has so we knew the organization would eventually be left in good hands.

It is sad that Ed can't be around for this run. He'd enjoy it.

He's following the team, day by day. But it would be nice for sure if he was able to be in Philly more.

I think we all would have loved the Flyers winning the cup at some point over the past 30 years but for anyone to question Snider is beyond me.

The man has always tried to give the Flyers what they need, from an ownership perspective , to win. I would take that any day over an owner that just wants to make money.

For example, the opportunity cost of drafting Derek Mathers last year is Hyka.

Bill - not trying to be a downer but this installment felt a little like an obit preview. It's an excellent piece, as usual, but I felt a little uncomfortable while reading it.

I think he has a lock on the Ashbee. I don't think you can make a case for anyone else.

He has an outside shot at the Calder. He'll likely get a nomination, but McDavid will likely take it home.

His nomination for the Masterton is a joke, imho. Sorry, but a rookie hasn't persevered anything. Imho it is a veteran award.
